In the world but not of it

-

Romans 12 vs 2 (NIV)

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

It’s very easy to be so consumed with the issues of the world that you become of the world. The customs and practices of the world are so alluring and offer an element of delight, and it’s so easy to get caught up in the way the world does things.

The ways of the LORD, although certain of an outcome, sometimes appear slow, to a point where the solutions of the world become more appealing because they seem more tangible, instant and certain of a result.

Take for example the idiom that says “revenge is for the LORD”, at the point of anger it appears so rational and practical to simply proffer a worldly solution that will provide instant justice and emotional relief.

With the ways of the LORD you are often left waiting and waiting without a real day of justice in sight, yet the reality is that He is working to ensure that the best outcome occurs.

So as we deal with the world, we are often tempted to remain in the world, yet the knowledge we have is that God should always draw us back into realising that with Him we are assured of a greater and better outcome than we would ever imagine or try to manufacture.

So be in this world but not of the world. Trust that He that knows best.

Be blessed
