SOUTH Africa’s Bekezela, Nkwali, Madlela Skhobokhobo, Guluva 7, Zinja Ziyamluma and Lorraine Stot are some of the performers who will entertain people during the inaugural Skyz Metro FM Music Awards tonight.

The awards, set for the Large City Hall in Bulawayo, will be held under the theme #SiphetheAmagabazi.

Completing the list is Tribal house trio Djembe Monks, Rhumba musician Clement Magwaza, comedian Nceku, gospel diva Abigail Mwembe, house music producer DJ Skaiva & CJ, Ramsey Paulla Palloma & Ryan Synth, hip hop artiste Thuts Rodney, gospel musician Knowledge Nkiwane, The Outfit Band, Ibutho LikaKristo, Nite Freak & Kemm Vocals and Reward Judah Ndlovu.

Godwin Phiri, the Skyz Metro station manager, said all was set for the awards with tickets going for $25 VIP and $10 for ordinary seats.

“I think by the day of the awards, the tickets would’ve been sold out. We’ve sold over half the tickets that are needed to fill up the Large City Hall and we encourage people to come and buy theirs at the Vista and Skyz Metro FM studios as they’re running out,” said Phiri.

“The VIP’s will be seated on the top balcony which has a better view. There’ll be a cash bar and free snacks for them.”

He said the awards ceremony will be a red carpet event with the radio station’s personalities Donna N and Khekhe welcoming guests as from 6PM.

With any awards ceremony, the red carpet is always the centre of attraction as local celebs and nominees will be dressed to impress on the night with various outfits.

Proceedings, according to Phiri, will commence at 7PM with the awards being streamed live on the station’s Facebook page.

“For those who won’t be able to make it to the awards, they can log onto our Facebook page and website as the awards will be streamed live from there.

“People can alternatively tune in to our radio station for a live broadcast of the awards,” said Phiri.

Topping the nominee list is Clement Magwaza, the duo of Ras Boom & DJ Ace Carter of the Zankaleli fame and Sandra Ndebele who have four nominations each while DJ Skaiva has three. The nominees were chosen by listeners and the winners who will be awarded tonight were also selected by listeners.
