President’s visit to Tsvangirai shows compassion
EDITOR — President Mnangagwa’s recent visit to MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai has shown that Zimbabwe is being led by a compassionate man whose actions are not guided only by politics, but by ubuntu.
Despite the hectic schedule that the President has, he spared time to check on the former Prime Minister and his family in their time of need.
Even the gesture that was extended to Mr Tsvangirai was well thought out, to lessen the burden to foot hospital bills accrued from his battle with cancer.
This underlines remarks made by President Mnangagwa that he is everyone’s President regardless of political affiliation.
My wish is that supporters of the parties these men belong to follow the example set by President Mnangagwa and understand that people are allowed to differ in a democracy.
We should not lose our sense of humanity because of varying political perspectives. We are our brothers’ keepers and as Zimbabweans we need to work together now more than ever.
As usual, there are some who are trying to politicise the President’s visit from their echo chambers through social media. These are contrarians who are bent on discrediting every gesture made by the new leadership.
President Mnangagwa should not recede in his good deeds, even God will bless his efforts and journey.
To Mr Tsvangirai we say get well soon. Our prayers are with you and your family in these times. You can even consider resting and focus on recuperating as well if the option is open to you.
