Wycombe ‘pin hopes’ on Muskwe

STRUGGLING English Championsh­ip side Wycombe Wanderers coach Gareth Ainsworth believes new signing, Admiral Muskwe, will add value in their fight against relegation.

Muskwe joined The Chairboys from Leicester City on loan until the end of the 2020/21 season.

The highly-rated Zimbabwe internatio­nal striker arrives at Adams Park amid high expectatio­ns as Ainsworth’s men have only managed three wins in 23 outings, leaving them anchoring the standings.

Muskwe, who trained with the squad on Tuesday, will wear squad number 15 and is expected to make his debut in Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Preston North End at home.

And speaking on the deal, Ainsworth said the Warriors forward has the quality to help them survive the chop.

“Admiral has all the attributes to be a success in our side and help us score more goals in our survival efforts this season;” said Ainsworth.

Ainsworth also said Championsh­ip football will also help Muskwe develop his game.

“He’s quick, good with his feet, strong physically and a great goalscorin­g record, all of which means we believe he can fit well into the way we play and develop his game by benefittin­g from playing Championsh­ip football,” he added.

The 22-year-old has been a prolific goalscorer for the Foxes at all youth levels since joining the club aged nine.
