KADOMA City has received over a thousand jabs of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine, health authorities told H-Metro.
Kadoma General Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Kudzaishe Masendeke said they received the vaccine on Friday and had started administering it.
Sanyati District Medical Officer Dr Nobert Munosiyeyi also confirmed receipt of the allocation.
“We got about 1 100 doses. We should start administering it tomorrow (today) since today (Monday), is a holiday,” said Dr Munosiyeyi over the phone.
The city has come up with a programme to encourage residents to embrace the vaccine.
Health director Dr Daniel Chirundu explained: “We want to launch it publicly tomorrow (today) or Wednesday.
“It’s being proposed that influential people in town — directors, business, civil servants among others — be vaccinated publicly at Cameroon Square.”
Cameroon Square is the heart of Kadoma’s central business district (CBD).
