Hills Cemetery were on Saturday damaged by mourners attending

Some mourners followed proceedings leaning or seated on adjacent tombstones, resulting in their damage.

The damage has also been blamed on love-birds turning the cemetery into a love nest.

H-Metro on Sunday witnessed love-birds hanging out in tall grass at the cemetery, while some were making love in parked cars.

Some youths have turned the cemetery road into a soccer field.

“This place is no longer just a resting place for the departed, but is now for various things such as lovers, playing ground and shrine,” said one Warren Park resident.

“We are urging Harare City Council to consider keeping the place clear by cutting grass and tightening security because criminals will end up removing the tombstones for resale,” added the resident.
