Chiefs not taking Simba lightly

-

KAIZER CHIEFS coach Gavin Hunt says they have no reason to take their CAF Champions League quarter-final opponents Simba lightly considering how well they did in the group stages.

Chiefs will start off at home in a fortnight against the Tanzanian powerhouse and then travel to Dar es Salaam a week later in what will be a blood and thunder contest before the partisan local crowd.

Tanzania is allowing fans into the stadium for their matches.

“Tough draw because any team that you that draw now is a tough draw,” says Hunt.

Simba came out tops from a group that featured Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly, Vita Club and El Merreikh winning four, drawing one and losing one.

“Simba had a good group stages where they did well in a group with Al Ahly so they are a side that we can’t take lightly. They will be a tough side either way. All we are trying to do is concentrate on the next game and we will take it from there,” says Hunt.

Simba are certain to have already wrapped their domestic title by the time they play Chiefs in that two legged last eight contest.

The Kings of Tanzania are the runaway leaders in Ligi Kuu Bara needing just six points to wrap up the title which will be their fourth in a row.

The best that Simba have achieved in the premier continental competition was in the 2018/19 season, when they reached the quarterfinals, so overcoming Chiefs would be a historic feat for the club.

Simba will arrive with the familiar face of Bernard

Morrison, who previously played for Orlando Pirates —Kick Off.
