BEEFY TO CAPITALISE ON MINI-LEAGUE

- Richard Zimunya

BULAWAYO City head coach Philani ‘Beefy’ Ncube says he will use the mini-league to impart his experience to his stars ahead of the new season.

The mini-league has been scheduled to start this month while the Premiership season resumes in July.

City are among the four newly promoted sides together with Cranborne Bullets, Tenax and WhaWha.

“Yes Bulawayo City are coming from division one and it will be a new environment for most of the players but as an experienced coach this is not a new territory for me, so the boys will learn from me.

“Remember there is no substitute for experience in this world,” said Beefy.

Ncube said they are preparing for the resumption of football like any other team.

“We are preparing just like anybody and we are not under any pressure, actually I am enjoying that we are carrying the underdogs tag, our squad has a mixture of the seniors and juniors who will do the talking on the pitch,” he added.

“We are not going to compete in the minileague just to add numbers but we will challenge for silverware,” he said.

Bulawayo City were drawn in the same group with Bulawayo giants Highlanders, Chicken Inn, Bulawayo Chiefs and ZPC Kariba.

Meanwhile the Premier Soccer League leadership on Friday confirmed that the mini-league will kick off on the 15th of this month as they have secured sponsorship for its running which they will reveal in the coming days.
