HADEBE MAKES USA DEBUT

-

ZIMBABWE international defender Teenage Hadebe says his wish is to be among the “best” for his new club Houston Dynamo after making his debut on Tuesday.

Hadebe, who logged 90 minutes, made an impact though they had to settle for a 0-0 draw at Vancouver Whitecaps.

The Warriors star was praised for his contribution — finishing with two shots, the other missing the target with inches from a corner kick.

He was also called into action in 42nd minute when he conceded a foul to earn is first Major League Soccer (MLS) caution.

And speaking to H-Metro Sport from his USA base yesterday, Hadebe said he could not wait to make his debut.

“I was happy that I finally managed to play in my new jersey for my team. I couldn’t wait longer for this moment and it was a dream come true for me.

“It’s something that I was looking forward to and I’m happy for the opportunity,” said Hadebe.

The 25-year-old said he has now adapted to the new environment, thanking everyone at the club for helping him settle.

“Yeah I can now say that I have adapted well here. I was really welcomed and it wasn’t hard for me to get used to the environment and the people here have been nice.

“I would like to thank the management, coaching staff, and my teammates for helping me adjust. I know I am not 100 percent fit, but I know once I am 100 percent I will be the best defender,” he said. Reflecting on the game, he said:

“It was a tough game, not the result we wanted. But I’m happy that we got the clean sheet.”

The Warriors star said his target is to be better and help his new team achieve its targets.

“I’m working towards being a better player each day. I want to do well for my team and help them achieve their targets.

“I want to do well here and also for the national team with the training and coaching that I’m getting here,” he said.
