ROBBERY SUSPECT NABBED

A NEW suspect in the UZ farm robbery case appeared in court yesterday.

The suspect, Norest Mubvuma (32), was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Isheanesu Matova.

Prosecutin­g, the State had it that on June 15 this year, Mubvuma and other accomplice­s who are still at large and some on remand namely Lazarus Chinobhuru­ruka, Godfrey Josi, Peter Mushipe, Bruce Muparadzi, Themba Mugabe, Zvidozvash­e Zuda, Richard Mutanga, Benjamin Musasa, Ephraim Alphas, Valentine Mutasa and one nicknamed Mambo Dhuterere connived to go on a robbing spree.

The group whilst armed with pistols, iron bars and hammers proceeded to Plot number 1 University of Zimbabwe Farm where they entered the compound and apprehende­d the security guard Christophe­r Chizhanga.

Further allegation­s are that the group demanded to see the complainan­t who is director of the farm whilst holding the security guard at gun point.

They force marched Chizhanga to where the director stayed before jumping into his room, manhandled him at gun point and demanded cash.

After the confrontat­ion, the group went away with US$60 000, two Huawei laptops, a 55mm Astra revolver serial number 6572v3 loaded with two rounds, 130 rounds of ammunition, a jaeger lecoultre Marter watch, Louis Vuitton Pendant Chain Turquoise, bottega veneta wallet, Philips electric shaver, starbucks glasses, airpods pro and 300 Russian Rubbies.

The State in its papers claims they have overwhelmi­ng evidence implicatin­g Mubvuma and his accomplice­s as he led to the recovery of a Toyota Rav4 used in the robbery and he made indication­s to the police.

Total value of goods stolen has been estimated at US$85 000.
