GRANNY RECLAIMS APARTMENT

- Arron Nyamayaro

AN ELDERLY woman, who spent nine months outdoors after being kicked out of her Mbare apartment, reclaimed her home on Wednesday.

Gogo Gladys Ndlovu, 68, had seemingly lost her home at Matapi Block 7.

A vendor took over the apartment claiming to have been moved in by City of Harare after clearing Gogo Ndlovu’s unpaid bills.

On returning to the apartment on Wednesday, she found a clay pot full of herbs, a wooden walking stick and a knobkerrie placed in the room.

Gogo Ndlovu told H-Metro that the cold weather she endured this winter was worse than any threat of charms placed in the room.

“I want to thank God for hearing my prayers, neighbours for standing with me and H-Metro newspaper for publishing my misery,” said Gogo Ndlovu. “Today I will enjoy my sleep indoors because life was tough outside.

“I lost my property that includes blankets but today I feel relieved.

“The vendor left her traditional items in the house but this does not scare me since what I experienced for the past nine months was worse than any threats,” she said.

Meanwhile, Gogo Ndlovu pleaded for food from well wishers.
