EASTER GIGS GALORE

IT’S holiday weekend.

And, as has become the norm, the showbiz world is usually abuzz during this time of the year.

What’s on the menu?

⚫ JOEBOY LIVE IN H-TOWN Topping the bill is Nigerian star Joeboy’s Independen­ce Eve bash at Borrowdale Racecourse. Dubbed “Joeboy Live in Harare”, this is the biggest gig in town.

The Nigerian Afrobeats star, who is expected in Zimbabwe on the day of the show, will be supported by Jah Prayzah, rappers Takura and King 98 and an array of wheel-spiners comprising Langton B, Klique, MC Tatts and Enjoyment 5.0.

Infinity Sky Entertainm­ent is behind the show. Show promoter Collin Manyore said it was all systems go. “The main objective of the show is to celebrate African talent and promote unity.

“Everything is now in place, we want to thank BancABC, Skylake Boreholes and Gabby’s BNB, among others, who are supporting this event.”

⚫ MAPOPOMA FEST BEGINS

Victoria Falls is another option for holiday makers when the annual Mapopoma Festival roars into life this evening.

Jah Prayzah and Enzo Ishall are set to headline the event, thanks to Dollarbill Entertainm­ent. It will now be held at the Kingdom Hotel under the theme “Local is Lekker.”

Event organiser, Hweva Mvura, of Dollarbill Entertainm­ent, said they were ready for the festival coinciding with the Easter celebratio­ns.

“It was only last year when it was not held but we are glad we are back with this special Easter edition of the festival,” he said.

Tonight, Feli Nandi and Jah Prayzah will alternate under one roof in the resort town, along with a host of DJs.

Tomorrow, the attention shifts to Mzoe7, Holy Ten, Enzo and Victoria Falls’ very own Muffia King. On Independen­ce’s Eve, a number of surprise acts will entertain tourists, added Hweva.

⚫ JABAVU DRIVE’S BIG NIGHT BECKONS

Sherwood Golf Club in Mabelreign in the only spot to be on Easter Saturday when it hosts Jabavu Drive. The show starts around 6pm till late.

Resident wheel-spinner, DJ Destiny, provides cover at the event.

⚫SULUMANIA HITSH-TOWN

Jason Mphepo Little Theatre is the only place to be for Dendera Lovers in the capital tonight when it hosts Suluman Chimbetu tonight. The show coincides with Boss Taflo’s birthday.

Tomorrow, he returns to Bar Rouge by public demand, for another performanc­e.

⚫ CHIPFUMO MAKES REAL PROGRESS

Sounds of Motherland boss, Progress Chipfumo, will be in action at Apple Café on Good Friday.

Chipfumo, who normally performs at the venue on Thursdays, promises fireworks. The show starts at 6pm till late.

⚫ TRADITIONA­L MUSIC LOVERS’ DELIGHT

Big Apple Nite Club resumes live shows tonight with a potentiall­y explosive bira.

Dubbed “Bira Regoho”, the show parades a star-studded line-up comprising Diana “Mangwenya” Samkange, Sasha Amadhube and Sekuru Hwesa who will be backed by the Zim Totems crew. It starts around sunset till late.

⚫ MADZIBABA OFF TO GWERU

Sungura legend, Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria, will meet his fans in the City of Progress. Tonight, he performs at Mupambadzi­re Nite Club in Mkoba 6. He will then proceed to Lalapanzi for another show at Chilimanzi Cocktail Bar. He will be supported by Thulani Machisa who is backed by Machena Music.

⚫ ANDY MURIDZO, NGWAZI OFF KUMAKOMOYO

Andy Muridzo will perform alongside Mark Ngwazi in Watsomba in Manicaland known as Kumakomoyo.

Their joint show takes place at Mandel Leisure Centre.

Tomorrow, they will go their separate ways with Andy Muridzo set to grace a football tournament, featuring four teams, at Murewa Prison.

On Sunday, Muridzo and Ngwazi combine forces again with another show at Guyo homestead in Buhera.
