‘IT’S ABOUT OUR UHURU’
AFTER taking Dynamos to the top of the table, Tonderai “Stanza” Ndiraya now wants to add a piece of silverware by capturing the Independence Cup.
The Glamour Boys take on Highlanders at Barbourfields on Monday.
“Our preparations have been good, we are ready to travel because we are going to finish our preparations in Bulawayo,” said Ndiraya.
“We’ve done all our work, what’s left for us is to play the game on Monday, we understand the importance of the Cup.
“We are the current holders, so we are eager to take the Cup to Bulawayo and bring it back on Tuesday when we come back.
“It’s a game that we are taking seriously, it’s a competition which is very important to us as a team, of course, it’s because of what it represents.”
He said the Uhuru Cup was a huge part of the country’s history and deserves all the respect.
“We are going to celebrate our Independence anniversary, 42 years of Independence and that is very important to us, as a club and, of course, as a team.
“To enjoy the peace, atmosphere and get the chance to express our talents, we enjoy all this because of the sacrifice which the gallant sons and daughters, who lost their lives, made during the liberation struggle.
“Our business environment, as footballers, was enabled by these sons and daughters so we really value the contribution, we really respect what they did for us and we want to win this Cup for them.
“Whichever team is going to win, or lose, hopefully that won’t be us, what is important is what we are going to be celebrating on the day.
“So, in the end, we are all going to be winners, we are fully prepared as Dynamos to play our part in those celebrations on Monday.”
