Manhunt for Kwekwe murderers
POLICE in Kwekwe are carrying out a manhunt after the death of two men whose bodies were found in the city on Saturday.
Midlands police acting spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende, confirmed the death of a 23-year-old man.
A hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a 29-year-old man on Saturday.
“Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a suspected murder case where the body of a male adult was found in an advanced stage of decomposition.
“The body was found at Yellow Snake area, Kwekwe on 23 April 2022, at about 0200 hours. On 21 April, 2022, Ellen Mufari, a woman aged 47 years of Sherwood, Kwekwe, reported that she was missing her 23-year-old son, Learnmore Thabani, aged 23 years.
“During investigations a call was received by the Police that a body was found at Yellow Snake, Kwekwe.
“The Police attended the scene, called the mother who positively identified the body as that of her son, Learnmore Thabani,” said Mukwende.
Assistant Inspector Mukwende also confirmed they were investigating a suspected hit-and-run incident along the Bulawayo-Harare Road on Saturday night.
“Police are investigating a suspected hitand-run accident where a 29-year-old man was found lying in the middle of the road along the Harare/Bulawayo Road on 23 April 2022, at about 0200 hours.
“A motorist, who was driving from Harare to Bulawayo, on approaching 227-kilometre peg near Kwekwe, discovered the body of a male adult lying in the middle of the road with injuries, “she said.
The Police made an appeal to the public to assist them with information that can lead to the arrest of those involved in the hit-and-run accident.
