Troubled CAPS fall, Bosso held

- Blessing Malinganiza

WHAT a horrible day for CAPS United.

The Green Machine were hit by a player rebellion, which forced a 44-minute delay to the start of this Castle Lager Premiership match at the National Sports Stadium, against Cranborne Bullets.

The Makepekepe players are protesting against their unpaid dues.

There were no such problems in the City of Kings as Highlanders and Chicken Inn battled to a 1-1 draw at Barbourfields.

Godfrey Makaruse thrust Bosso into the lead, in the 20th minute, but Brian Muza restored parity in the 70th minute.

It means Dynamos now have a two-point lead at the top of the table.

Only one CAPS United player had turned up for the match by the time the game was supposed to start.

H-Metro gathered that by 3pm yesterday, a number of CAPS players were at the Harare Gardens,

watching a Mbira group performing.

The management had to intervene and pleaded with them to go and fulfill the fixture.

When action finally got underway, Makepekepe slumped to a 0-2 defeat at the hands of the newboys.

“Diego is the only player at the hotel right now,” said sources. “They were supposed to meet at 10 am in town, then the bus left at 10:30 to the Oasis hotel without anyone.

“The players were refusing to come until they got their money which the management had promised them by Thursday.”

They only arrived at the National Sports

Stadium in private vehicles 30 minutes after the scheduled kick-off time and did not hold a warm-up session.

Brian Muzondiwa put the Hurricanes into the lead in the first half before completing his brace just before the break.

H-Metro also gathered that coach Lloyd Chitembwe was “not in charge of the match,” according to sources.

“Lloyd was not in charge, the senior guys affected the substitutions and how the team was going to play,” revealed a source.

Chitembwe didn’t have much to say after the defeat.

“You know why we lost the game, I don’t want to say much about it,” he said.

Bullets coach Nesbet Saruchera said:

“We are happy we managed to collect three points again, I’m happy the youngsters are gelling.

“We should’ve scored maybe five but we are happy we managed to collect the three points.”
