IT’S SIMBA v EAGLES

- Bruce Chikuni

GOLDEN Eagles and Simba Bhora, the top clubs in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League, will battle for the inaugural Axis Solutions Super8 Cup in the final.

The Eagles beat Trojan Stars 1-0 in their semi-final battle at Ellis Robins in Harare yesterday.

Skipper Henry Manatsa led from the front and was named man-of-the-match.

The reward for their victory yesterday is a date against Simba Bhora who needed a penalty shootout to beat Herentals Under-19 on Saturday.

Former Dynamos midfielder, Banabas Mushunje, was the man-of-the-match.

“It’s a massive relief, I can say the victory gave us something we have been finding difficult to achieve of late,” said Simba Bhora coach, Arthur “Tuts” Tutani.

“I want to congratulate the players, technical team, executive and, more importantly, the fans, who came in numbers to rally behind the team, it really means a lot.

“It was a good game of football, you know Herentals are a solid side, it takes a lot to beat them, especially when they are at home, they gave us a good run.” Mushunje, who failed to convert from the spot, dedicated the individual accolade to his teammates.

“I just want to thank the Almighty for the strength and my teammates for coming to the

party, yes, we might have failed to score but we had a good game,” said Mushunje.

“I think, when compared to our previous game that we lost to the same team, today we played better, we wanted the victory more, from the start.

“When you work as a team, a victory is guaranteed and, after failing to convert from the spot, I never looked back, I knew the boys were going to wrap it up, and they did.

“I want to thank the fans, who played the 12th man role, and I also want to dedicate this man-ofthe-match award to my teammates, we are now waiting for the final.” Herentals Under-19 coach, Paul Benza, insisted he was impressed by his charges despite the outcome. The venue and date of the final will be announced in due course.
