ON 30 APRIL, ZRP Waterfalls recorded a case of drowning, where two juveniles aged seven and nine drowned in a disused pit at Supersands Retreat Farm, Harare. It is alleged that the two victims, together with another juvenile aged 10, were fishing at a disused pit when one of them slipped into the pit. The second victim drowned while trying to rescue the first victim. Police have since referred the bodies of the victims to Sally Mugabe Hospital for post-mortem.
On 30 April, ZRP Mbembesi recorded a fatal hit-and-run road traffic accident in which a man, (48), was hit by an unknown motorist at the 375 km peg along Harare-Bulawayo Road. The victim died on the spot and the motorist did not stop after the accident. Investigations are underway.

of operation ‘‘Respect Other Road Users/ Remekedzai Vamwe Vanoshandisa Mugwagwa/ Hloniphani Abanye Abasebenzisa Umgwaqo’’, bringing the cumulative arrests to 2 704
On 1 May, Police in Gutu arrested Collin Tapfumaneyi Chizengeni (57) for unlawful possession of ivory. The suspect was nabbed while searching for buyers leading to the recovery of a sack with 21 pieces of unmarked ivory at his residence in Munhende Location, Gutu.
On the same day, Police arrested 898 motorists throughout the country on day four of operation ‘‘Respect Other Road Users/ Remekedzai Vamwe Vanoshandisa Mugwagwa/ Hloniphani Abanye Abasebenzisa Umgwaqo’’, bringing the cumulative arrests to 3 602.
The ZRP is investigating a murder case which occurred at Kanhukamwe Business Centre, Chiweshe on 29 April at about 0200 hrs where three unknown men, who were armed with two unidentified pistols, robbed a local business man of US$2300 cash and six cellphones at his residence. One of the suspects shot the complainant’s wife once on the right side of the chest before they vanished into the darkness. The victim died on the spot and the body was referred to Concession District Hospital for post-mortem.
