Entrepreneurship skills for 4 000 students
OVER 4 000 students are being targeted for entrepreneurial and management skills training throughout the country.
The initiative is courtesy of Junior Achievement Zimbabwe (JAZ) in conjunction with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
The ambitious programme, which is targeting to impart students with entrepreneurship and management skills, is estimated to cost US$150 000.
Child President, Hazel Mandaza, hailed the launch stating it will complement the education curricula and foster development skills among young people.
“I would like to sincerely thank the Junior Achievement Zimbabwe for initiating such a noble programme which focuses on the development and clarification of employment aspirations of the youths through practical experiences.
“Employment creation becomes a culture among the youth contributing to the economic development of our country,” said Mandaza.
She said the initiative is also a massive boost for young people living with disabilities.
“To the students and people living with disabilities, it is very important because they are being given that knowledge to do things on their own.
“They are being taught not to look for employment but to create employment for themselves and others,” she added.
JAZ executive director, Allan Chinhanhu, commended the initiative.
“Students gain First World skills which enable them to go beyond just starting ordinary businesses but to innovate and start businesses that give solutions to real world challenges we are experiencing in the country.
“We are not here to start something that will gather dust.
“We have a long history of evidence of work that we have done that has given concrete results.
“With this project, we are confident it will not gather dust because it has received sustainable funding,” said Chinhanhu.
