FC Platinum face stern test

- Bruce Chikuni

FC Platinum midfielder, Hagiazo Magaya, says they believe they can finally register their first win in the capital, in the league campaign this season, today.

The champions take on in-form Yadah Stars at the National Sports Stadium this afternoon.

Interestingly, Magaya, the midfielder, will come up against a club owned by Magaya, the prophet.

The 22-year-old midfielder was on target when they hammered CAPS United 3-0 at Mandava.

It was also his first goal in the Castle Lager Premiership since he was promoted from the developmental side last season.

Norman Mapeza’s troops are slowly getting into their zone and now trail leaders Dynamos by eight points.

They are waiting for the outcome of the fate of the abandoned Week 12 fixture against Highlanders at Mandava.

The Zvishavane miners are heading for their second assignment in the capital after they suffered a 0-1 loss at the hands of Herentals the last time they were in Harare.

“We are preparing well, everything is going according to plan,” said Magaya.

“I believe in my teammates, whoever is going to be selected, knows what the coach wants, we are a team and we are prepared to fight for each other. “We are facing a good side, they are a tricky team and they have what it takes to derail our quest for back-to-back victories.

“It’s important for us to win this game, we are still yet to pick a point in Harare, we are here for maximum points.

“We are just hoping for fair officiating from the match officials, the better team should win fairly.”

Magaya praised Mapeza for his belief in youngsters.

“It’s not easy to be part of this team (FC Platinum), you have to be always on your toes, there’s no time to relax.

“The competition levels are always high, everyone is trying his best to be in the team.

“I want to thank coach Mapeza for the trust he has shown in youngsters, particularly me, it hasn’t been smooth but he knows how to get the best from us.” The club confirmed Donald Teguru, who missed the Makepekepe showdown due to an injury, was now back. The Miracle Boys are unbeaten in their last three games and edged Cranborne Bullets 1-0 at Sakubva last weekend.

They sit just a place above the relegation zone.
