Rot must stop now: Chitembwe

- Blessing Malinganiza

CAPS United coach, Lloyd Chitembwe, says the rot - which has seen them lose three games on the bounce - has to stop at some point.

The championship-winning gaffer is now targeting turning around his team’s struggles in the Castle Lager Premiership match against Chicken Inn on Sunday.

The two clubs will clash at the National Sports Stadium.

“The preparations are good, I want to believe that this week we had good preparations, unlike the last two weeks,” he said.

“What we have experienced in the last couple of weeks was expected considering the way we prepared for the matches.

“Honestly, speaking, you cannot stand a chance if your house is a bit in trouble and experiencing turbulence, like we did, in the last two weeks

“I think it had to stop and I’m very happy with the attitude I’m seeing in training and we just have to make sure we take ourselves out of this situation and it’s something that is doable, because the capacity is there,” he said.

Makepekepe suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of FC Platinum last week.

Chitembwe said they want a good result against the Gamecocks.

“There’s never a perfect team, I’ve always said this and it’s difficult to attain perfection in football, we are never perfect,” he said.

“It’s obviously the reason we train and work hard everyday to try and improve in certain aspects of the game.

“Come Sunday, mistakes do happen in a game and it’s not something that only happens to us, it happens even at the highest level.

“You still find players making mistakes so we are trying to do things that we believe will give us a very good chance of dominating and controlling a football match so that ultimately we can get the result we want.”

The Gamecock are second on the table with 28 points while CAPS are 10th with 17 points.
