CRAFT WINNER UNVEILS PLANS

CREATIVE Reproductive Health Arts for Transformation (CRAFT) festival winner, Rodwell Madondo, says his musical journey has just started.

He outclassed 36 other contestants at the festival, recently held at Harare Gardens.

He touched the hearts of many when he appeared on stage with blood-stained white bandages on his head, hand and leg.

“I am elated after being confirmed the winner,” he said.

“It’s a clear indication that we are doing something meaningful that people cherish.

“The festival was great in many ways.

“First, it is the first of its kind in Zimbabwe and its inclusive nature also saw participants, living with disability, defying the odds on the stage.

“I am planning to hold more shows and record more music to ensure that I make a strong name for myself in the music industry,” he added.

The Swedish Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Asa Pehrson, said the involvement of young people was key for any society which seeks gender transformation.

“The inclusivity that is being demonstrated here is what Sweden stands for,” she said.

“Sweden believes that there can never be true transformation toward gender equality, respect for democracy and human rights, including Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, without the inclusion of young people.”

Much to the delight of the fans, CRAFT brought a line-up which included sungura king Alick Macheso, Zim dance ace Enzo Ishall, Anita Jackson and HKD boss Freeman to give the young artists an opportunity to interact with seasoned musicians.

Freeman and Macheso once again shared the stage with the Ngaibake hit song leaving crowds demanding for more.
