ACTOR NYATHI IN H-TOWN

- Trust Khosa Content Coordinator

VETERAN actor, Zenzo Nyathi, is in town!

He is holding a one-man play titled “An Act of Man” at Theatre in the Park.

The play will have its première tonight and ends on Saturday.

Rooftop Promotions is hosting the play.

And, what has already raised its appeal, is that it comes at a time when theatre lovers in the capital have been starved of such plays.

Added to that, theatre venues in the capital, such as Theatre in the Park, Jasen Mphepo Little Theatre and Alliance Francaise, have been hosting musical shows.

Rooftop Promotions programmes coordinator, Prosper Ndlovu, confirmed Nyathi’s visit to the capital.

“Bulawayo-based actor Zenzo Nyathi will be warming the streets of Harare this week with his play `An Act of Man` at Theatre in the Park from the 2nd to the 5th of November 2022.

“The play was ably directed by Memory Kumbota and it will be running from 6pm every day.

“The admission will be only $3 for adults and just $1 for the kids.

“Bookings are being done at Theatre in the Park offices located at Corner Leopold Takawira Street and Herbert Chitepo Avenue in Harare,” he said.

Ndlovu said the actor tackles climate change, a subject which is rarely talked about by ordinary members of the community.

“We urged all theatre lovers to come in. We urge all climate change players (both institutions and individuals) including members of the media to participate,” he added.

According to the synopsis, “An Act of Man” is a refreshing play one cannot afford to miss.

“In the play, a rain diviner is forced to look not only to past traditions but also to the future to try to come to terms with his own personal misfortunes and the natural disasters of droughts and floods.

“Told through a zestful mix of storytelling, mime, dance and song, the one hander play adventurously interrogates the role that traditional knowledge systems and science play in a fast-changing world and in climate change intervention.”
