Let’s tame monsters abusing kids H-METRO

-

YESTERDAY, we departed from the norm by giving you a rare front page without a picture.

It’s the first time we have done that since the inception of this tabloid in 2009.

The stance was for a purpose. Of course, it is something that our valued readers are not used to but we had to do it to try and send a message and we feel, given the reaction we have received, that we have done just that.

As the media, it’s our mandate to serve the nation by denouncing vice, when and where we see it, among other social ills.

We want to be remembered as the media, which led the fight to end and whip some morons into line.

As we indicated in yesterday’s issue, it’s a bold stance we took to register our dismay against the wicked Macheke couple, accused of taking turns, to rape their children.

The disgraced couple’s alleged shenanigans, which have led to their arrest, have been roundly condemned.

It’s something that stinks, to say the least.

The couple has since appeared before Marondera magistrate, Ignatius Mhene, charged with raping their biological children.

The matter came to light when the two victims were caught simulating a sexual act by their uncle after a visit to Mutoko.

On the first occasion, the mother allegedly caught the father raping their daughter but opted to remain mum.

In retaliation, the mother also had sex with their 11-year-old son.

Further claims are that the Macheke couple have been desperate to conceal their heinous act until it was unearthed recently.

The uncle, who helped to ensure they were arrested, deserves all the credit for not concealing the matter.

The uncle has served the minors from further abuse.

These are the kind of whistle blowers we need in society to make Zimbabwe a better place to live.

Sadly, the reports from Macheke have come at a time when the nation has been taking giant strides in addressing child abuse.

Reading reports of parents bedding their own children, is not only wicked but provokes a number of questions.

As a nation, such acts should be roundly condemned to save our children. Children are a gift from God who need protection all the time.

Their future is shaped and determined by how they are raised.

Children need love, protection and guidance.

Being the future leaders, they need role models and not monsters.

Parenting should come with a sense of responsibility and pride all the time.

Children should find sanctuary under the care of their parents, which is completely the opposite of what the Macheke couple did.

It boggles the mind how some parents have turned into “vultures” by preying on their children.

The juju-related acts of sexually abusing children should be roundly condemned,

With the Macheke case now firmly under the spotlight, we pray that justice will prevail.

A strong message should be sent in the event the couple is found guilty.

Parents who abuse children should lose their custody and get punished heavily.
