Simba, Green Fuel clash in final
SIMBA BHORA and Green Fuel clash in the Inter-Regional Super Cup at Wadzanai in Shamva tomorrow.
The Chisumbanje-based side won the Eastern Region championship.
Simba Bhora are coached by Arthur Tutani, while Lloyd Mutasa guides the Lowveld side.
The two coaches joined the elite club of gaffers who have won the Division One title for a record of three times.
ZIFA Northern Region vice-chairman, Sweeney Mushonga, said the game was meant to give the two sides more game time before they join the top-flight league.
“We are doing all this with the intention of developing football, particularly in the lower leagues.
“This Inter-Regional Super Cup will give each side a glimpse of what to expect in the Premiership. “In future, we are planning to organise more of these inter-regional games for teams to get used to different environments to prepare the mindset of players.”
He added:
“Such fixtures will also help the players to put all their focus in football considering the duration of the season.
“We are still trying to find ways to expand the duration of our calendar so that it can keep players occupied.
“The off-season break seems to be too long and we are trying our best to connect the loose ends so that players spend more time on the field.
“We are urging people to come in numbers to support this initiative.”
Green Fuel forward, Claude Mapoka, is set to make his second trip to Wadzanai.
Prior to his move to the Lowveld side, he was Golden Eagles’ main man.
He was there when Eagles were humbled 1-3 by Simba Bhora, in the opening fixture of the season.
After joining Green Fuel, he netted eight times in the Eastern Region league.
