- Latwell Nyangu

ZIMDANCEHALL star, Donald “Sniper Storm” Chirisa, has urged other men to take care of their children with full responsibility. Sniper Storm, who has clocked over 22 years in the music industry, opened up on his journey and controversy.

The energetic performer is set to launch his album titled Scenario on November 19.

He was speaking during Star FM’s After Drive Hot Spot with DJ Ollah 7.

Sniper spoke about his clash with one Chipo Muchengwa over child responsibility.

“Nyaya idzi ndedzekubhawa. I think that happened and it was dealt with, everything was false.

“There were a lot of harassment,

inyaya dzekubhawa. I am a married guy. A lot of things were fabricated.

“There was a period that there was breakdown of communication which made it difficult to reach her.

“I am a person who wants to keep my private life to those who matter. A lot of my fans are very angry about some of these issues.

“It was a short period when this happened, mwana anga atozvarwa, support yakaitwa kubva ichiri nhumbu.

“Then on the 5th of July on my birthday, I started feeling weak and went home.

“I slept for almost 21 days or so. I had Covid-19. Ndakaita Covid, then madam, mufana, maid futi, vanhu five mumba one.

“We felt like rufu ruri pano. We were not working, taikiya kiya, things were not well. “But now I keep my child, we are doing everything,” he said.

The veteran singer said he looks after eight children. “I have eight children whom I got from my marriages

and panozovawo ne relationship. Some of these issues are really personal.

“All my children vari paden, pa eight ipapo, I have adopted one.

Mwana wese wandoti wangu ari

taken care of.

“Vana ngavachengetwe.

“And, men should take care of their children. Panenge pataurwa kuti mwana wako, take responsibility.”

Despite ending his academic journey at O’ Level, Sniper kept pursuing his dream.

“I ended at Form 4 before I started working. Ndakamboshanda kubobikwa mapizza and with time, I was sent packing.

“I had done some mischief apa I was about to become a manager,

mhepo kubva dzasimuka.

“By then magitare tanga tatotanga. That time I did Tauya Naye, I was still working. “I lost my job and tried to look for another one for four months,

basa ringawanike, rakaramba.

“The situation forced me to put strength in music.”

He professionally started recording around 1999.

“I had always wanted to be an engineer as I grew up seeing adverts. But I was good at mixing Jamaican songs.

“So, when I started approaching studios, I had the idea

“There was nothing happening on the urban side, kwanga kungori nana Sungura.

“I started working with Delani Makhalima and he would develop me. That’s why I ended up being featured on David Chifunyise project.

“He would tell me to relax. All

the songs which were recorded that time, I saw them being recording.

“I also took time to study other genres, that’s what made me to be who I am today and the song which propelled me is Kubhinya, that was a smash hit,” he said.

Nicknamed Musoja, Sniper said, he came before Jah Prayzah.

“My father was a soldier and it’s a profession I admired. I believed the struggle we had to put in this music at this stage, was a militant struggle, that’s how I got the soldier tag.

“We also got endorsed by the army. Jah came when I was already in the industry.”
