LONDON. Former England striker Peter Crouch has said anyone who says Cristiano Ronaldo is better than Lionel Messi does not know football.

Crouch’s remarks have added fuel to the Ronaldo versus Messi endless debate.

The former Liverpool striker Crouch told a Podcast that Ronaldo is incredible but certainly not better than Messi.

“I don’t know if I should say this or not. I feel if you say Ronaldo, you don’t know football very well,” Crouch said.

The retired English footballer said this as he co-hosted a Podcast with Chris Stark a few days ago.

Stark, a Ronaldo fan, was offended by Crouch’s remarks.

“That is an absolutely extraordinary thing to say. That is insulting to a lot of people,” he responded.

Crouch and Stark ignited the Messi/Ronaldo debate during their latest show this week when they hosted several sports stars.

The show attracted former England striker Jermain Defoe, former Burnley manager Sean

Dyche and boxing star Anthony Joshua.

Defoe, Dyche and Joshua all said they felt Ronaldo was better than Messi.

However, the former Stoke City centre-forward Crouch felt otherwise pointing to Messi’s seven Ballon d’Or awards compared to Ronaldo’s five.

Ronaldo was by far the stand-out player for Manchester United last season after scoring 24 goals in 38 goals.

However, the Portuguese superstar is enduring a lukewarm start to this campaign, managing three goals in 15 games.

However, the tide has changed this season. The little magician has netted seven times in 12 league matches for the table-topping PSG.

Overall, the former Barcelona skipper has registered 12 goals in 17 games for the French giants this season.
