Respect sanctity of life
PEOPLE’s lives are more precious and a number of road traffic accidents can be avoided if drivers respect the sanctity of life, a transport operator has said.
CAG Travellers Coach director, Dr Afra Nhanhanga, said this at the Annual National Iconic Entrepreneurs Awards.
CAG won first prize in the passengers category.
“Businesspeople can compete in food, clothes and events, but when it comes to passengers, it is a matter of life and death on the roads.
“Drivers must not compete on roads because every time they do that, they will be risking people’s lives.
“Life is more precious than money, so we are urging motorists, especially those who carry passengers, to respect the sanctity of life.
“A number of road traffic accidents can be avoided and it is my prayer that we save lives, not only during holidays. How holy are the holidays if we lose lives,” she said.
Mbuya Dorcas Hospital won first prize in health, Imire Game
Park in hospitality, Chicken Slice in the fast foods outlets, and Rawson Properties in real estates, among others.
Factors considered on selection of winners were contribution to economic development, innovation to make life easier for consumers and national contribution to creating employment.
Among the top iconic entrepreneurs recognised were Dr Ezekiel Guti, Strive Masiyiwa, Phillip Mataranyika, Dr Divine Ndhlukula, Kudakwashe Tagwirei, Moses Chingwena and Dr Antony Pote.
