JAMES MADDISON plays down World Cup injury fears after hobbling off for Leicester and reveals knee was ‘bit sore’

Maddison, fresh from being named in the England squad, opened the scoring at the London Stadium.

But the 25-year-old was replaced before the half hour mark with what looked like a knee injury.

However, the midfielder gave the nation some good news when he took to Twitter after the game.

He said: “Another win & another goal. Perfect way to finish before the break.

“Injury isn’t too bad! A small problem that was

causing a bit of soreness. Can’t wait to meet up with the lads Monday.”

Another win & another goal. Perfect way to finish before the break. Injury isn’t too bad! A small problem that was causing a bit of sorenes. This came after Brendan Rodgers had already provided a promising update, though.

The Foxes boss revealed he came off as a precaution and Maddison was just suffering from soreness.

Maddison had earlier continued his red-hot form by setting Leicester on their way to a 2-0

victory.

He swept into the roof of the net for his seventh Prem goal of the season.

But his joy was short-lived as he went down and held the back of his leg before being withdrawn 13 minutes later.

Maddison’s strike in East London was his 11th goal involvement in 13 top-flight games this season.

However, it seems as though it was just a scare, which should allow him to join up his his teammates on Monday.
