. . . Chivaviro blown away by warm reception

MULTIPLE award-winning gospel musician, Reverend Togarepi Chivaviro, has set the tone for his 20th album.

The United States-based singer flew back into the country on Saturday ahead of a date with fans at Braeside Christian Centre.

Dubbed the ‘Ebenezer Platinum Gospel Choir’, Chivaviro will share stage with long-time friends Sipho Makhabane, Machanic Manyeruke and Timothy Ngwenya.

“It’s been three years away from home,” he said.

“I am excited to be back and was overwhelme­d by the fans as we celebrate the Inter-Continenta­l award and the Doctorate Degree of Ministry.

“I have gathered a few of my friends in the music circles and we will be having a concert at the Braeside Christian Centre this Saturday.

“This is also part of me working on my 20th album,” said Chivaviro.

He has also dedicated his recent achievemen­ts to his fans.

“I felt reconnecte­d as soon as I touched down and seeing the fans who came to welcome me makes me want to quickly get into the studio and record something.

“Three years is a long time and I haven’t been able to concentrat­e on my music or promote the latest album because of the distance and studies.

“But, I am here to compensate for all that.”

The musician is basking in the glow of the success of his 19th album - The African Social Gospel Volume 1 - which carries songs such as Gore Regore, Chinyarara Moyo Wangu, Delivered From People and Mayenzek’ Intando Yakho.

The Ebenezer hit-maker also revealed that he will embark on a nationwide tour promoting his latest album in Mutare, Gokwe, Bulawayo, Masvingo, Chinhoyi and Kariba.

After the local tour, Chivaviro and his Ebenezer Platinum Choir will also embark on a world tour, with their first stop in Leicester, England, in March next year.

During his stay in the US, Chivaviro released two albums - Kana Wakayambuk­a and The African Social Gospel Volume 1

Both albums are predominan­tly new sound from the musician as he targeted new audiences.

At the same time, he maintained the fans who have always followed him who are dotted around the globe.
