Let’s respect decisions by women

-

MEN who torment young women after their love proposals are turned down are evil people.

On a daily basis, we handle such cases in the press.

By running such cases in the media, we hope that some men will learn and stop abusing young women.

We need to treat our women with dignity and honour.

Women are not sex toys or baby making machines as perceived by some wicked men.

This trend of men harassing women, who turn down their proposals, is shocking and worrisome.

Women’s dignity is now at stake and they deserve protection.

Young women deserve respect and honour as they represent future mothers.

As such, a love proposal should be done in a civilised manner.

However, it should be noted that it can be either turned down or accepted.

Real men should be ready to accept both the negative and positive outcomes when they make such proposals.

Failure to accept the outcome of such proposals has seen some of the men going berserk.

Women have the right to accept and turn down love proposals.

Our women have the right to make decisions without fear of repercussions from mad men.

In yesterday’s issue, we carried a story about a love proposal which, after it was turned down, turned the man into a monster.

The story involved a city hustler, Eliel Madziwa, who was slammed on social media for harassing a young woman who rejected his proposal.

The city dealer began to attack the girl with obscenities.

Madziwa has been accused of bombarding the 19-year-old girl with unsavoury text messages.

While the city dealer might have been irked by the girl’s response, he should be warned against his conduct.

Already, the lunatic has committed a punishable offence, which can attract a hefty fine or community service, once convicted.

This conduct is totally unacceptable since it lowers the self-esteem of women.

In our country, we have several men who are behaving like Madziwa.

Such people deserve to be reported to the police as they infringe upon the rights of women.

As a progressive nation, we can’t afford to let these people continue violating women’s rights.

Such cases should be reported to the police to ensure we end this abuse.

After being reported, such cases deserve to be given a lot of attention where culprits should be punished.

A good example has to be sent by the courts of law once such men are convicted.

We need to respect each other and stop this abuse which has been going on for years.

The same goes to men who enjoy insulting and calling women all sorts of names after being rejected.

Over the years, Zimbabwean men have been known to be caring, hardworking and respectful.

It’s never too late for men to start respecting our women.

Our women deserve all the respect and honour that we can accord them.

Let’s respect our women by doing the right things in life.
