Suicidal thoughts inspire artist to release album

- Prisca Manyiwa-Masuku

SOUTH Africa-based crooner, Gabriel “Advocate I” Muchanyu, says suicidal thoughts inspired him to release an album as he wanted to leave behind something tangible for his fans.

The album is titled Heart and Soul with the opening track named Gone Too Soon.

“I know this might sound crazy and will surprise many people but I just wanna be honest.

“Heart and Soul was not inspired by anything other than making it my last project before I departed from this world, “said Advocate I.

The artist revealed he has been going through a rough patch in his life.

“I went through a lot between the second and the third quarter of this year to a point that I lost hope in myself, the pressure was too much and unbearable at times.

“It is something which is so personal, unfortunately, I cannot disclose but I am fine now.

“I am still fighting suicidal thoughts and recovering from the trauma, it’s a miracle that we are having this interview, “he said.

The new release is composed of six hits namely Gone Too Soon, Shinga, Real Friends, Mama N Papa and Dzokorora featuring Tai Tan UG, a Ugandan music artist and record producer.

“I never thought I would live to see the performance of my project hence the reason I put Gone Too Soon on the track list.

“Music is one of those things I have loved wholeheartedly for it has been the right and good food for my soul, hence the Title Heart And Soul.

“It was supposed to be a trilogy carrying only Gone Too Soon, Shinga and Real Friends, the extra three songs came in when I thought I had to release all my unreleased projects, “he said.

Advocate I confessed to have a lot of confidence on his new project as it is getting overwhelming response.

“I am yet to believe what is unfolding in front of my eyes, the project seems to have the potential of outshining everything I have done before.

“The reception is overwhelming, looking at the space of time since I released it.

“People from all walks of life, the young and the old, are welcoming it with both hands, “he said.
