Ndiraya to lead Simba Bhora, sparks debate
TONDERAI Ndiraya will lead Simba Bhora’s dugout in their debut Castle Lager Premiership season next year, a club official has said.
The ex-Dynamos coach will take over from Arthur Tutani, who led the Shamva side in securing top-flight league status by winning the ZIFA Northern Region Division One League.
Dynamos announced last week that Ndiraya’s contract, which expires at the end of next month, will not be extended.
The Glamour Boys finished third, 17 points adrift of champions FC Platinum.
While Dynamos seem to believe that Ndiraya is not the right man to restore the club’s lost pride, Simba Bhora see him as the right man to lead their Premiership journey.
The development sparked debate on social media, with some Simba Bhora fans arguing that their club had made a huge step backwards.
They believe Tutani is more qualified than his successor, citing how he helped three different Division One teams secure PSL status.
Ndiraya’s best achievement is winning the Chibuku Super Cup.
It’s not yet clear whether Ndiraya will consider working with Tutani and his assistant, Paul Chimalizeni, as part of his backroom staff.
Meanwhile, it appears Dynamos have settled for Harare City assistant coach, Herbert Maruwa, as Ndiraya’s replacement.
Yadah Stars coach, Genesis Mangombe, who has been receiving praise for his possession-based style approach is set to assist Maruwa.
One player, who recently signed a contract with Dynamos told H-Metro that Maruwa and Mangombe were part of the club’s delegation on the negotiation table.
The Glamour Boys are also believed to be planning a complete overhaul of their playing staff.
Maruwa has long been considered a typical coach to guide Dynamos.
Before joining Harare City, he was shown the exit door by Black Rhinos after a five-year spell. His tenure with the army side was marred by allegations of juju and attacks on his counterparts.
