Jonga makes mark in Indonesia

- Blessing Malinganiza

REGINA Jonga says it’s been her dream to compete at the highest level after she emerged second in the WFF World Championships 2022 in Indonesia at the weekend.

The bodybuilder paid tribute to her sponsor, Cathy Martin, who funded her trip.

“I want to thank my sponsor, the one and only Boss Lady Body Cathy, for making my dream come true. “If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have been able to compete in Indonesia.

“Before I met Cathy, I had created a GoFundMe page looking for sponsorship for my flight and hotel, but I only got €90.

“I had given up hope because this had happened before with other competitions.

“I’m so excited because this has always been my dream to compete at an international level,” she said.

Jonga earned her pro card in 2019 after emerging as the overall winner in the Tera Inter-Continental 2019 WFF Pro Championship in Shanghai, China. In November last year, Jonga participated in her first pro event.

She took part in the South Africa edition of the World Fitness Federation and scooped the Ladies Figure title.

Olympia is the highest-ranking professional female bodybuilding competition in the world.

Jonga’s bodybuilding fairy tale began about 10 years ago when she was 35, and she has scooped a lot of titles locally and in South Africa.

She also worked in South Africa as a house maid to sustain herself in the sport and also look after her two children, Natasha and Nicole, before she turned pro.
