All set for Mr, Miss Zim bodybuilding battle
THE Mr and Miss Zimbabwe Bodybuilding competition will be held at the 7 Arts Theatre in Harare tomorrow.
The country’s top bodybuilders, Ndumiso Dlodlo, Edward Mutero, Noah Dzvokora, Mark Valisotos, Nomthasanga Phiri, Lynette Tom, CC Banks and Ryan Gumbo, are expected to contest.
National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness (NFZBF) secretary-general, Quiet Shingai, said the competition has 11 divisions and will also honour those that have contributed immensely to bodybuilding in the country.
“It is our premier event and we are going to have 11 divisions.
“We have to recognise and celebrate the people who have contributed immensely to bodybuilding in Zimbabwe.
“Registration commences tomorrow (today) and on Saturday up to 10am.
“We will also brief the athletes about certain behaviour on stage and what will be penalised.” He added:
“As a federation, we have set aside US$12 000 to be apportioned to all divisions.
“Will also expect athletes to elect the Athletes’ Commissioner.
“The term of the current Athletes’ Commissioner is coming to an end at the end of the year so we want athletes to be aware of the day they will be required to elect a female and male Athletes’ Commissioner.”
NFZBF organising secretary, Givemore Marume, said they were ready for the event. “We have done most of the stuff pertaining to hosting this event. “We are ready and excited, the response from athletes has been good.
“We are also going to have officials from neighbouring countries assisting us,” he said.
