UZ lecturer, neighbour’s row spills into court

- Maria Chiguvari

A UNIVERSITY of Zimbabwe lecturer, and his neighbour, have been granted reciprocal peace orders against each other.

The lecturer, Oscar Mafengu, made an application against his neighbour, Pedellin Munogara, accusing her of calling him a wizard.

Magistrate Tamara Chibindi said it was clear both parties were failing to maintain peace.

During the court hearing, Mafengu claimed Munogara accused him of stealing her daughter’s panties to bewitch her.

“She is harassing me and my family, saying I bewitched her daughter, who is at the University of Zimbabwe.

“How can she accuse me of such a thing knowing that I am a lecturer and am doing my doctorate?

“The court must help us resolve these issues because I am now afraid that I will retaliate,” he said.

In her response, Munogara denied the accusations and demanded that both parties be given a peace order against each other.

“They are abusing me through the court. His wife brought me here some time ago.

“The order should be granted and I don’t care,” she said.
