KDee releases single

- Faith Mandizha

AFRO pop musician, Kudakwashe ‘‘KDee’’ Matema, has released a single titled ‘‘Allow me’’.

The artiste will drop the visuals in March and is hoping to work with Tammy Moyo, Nutty O,EXQ and Poptain on his upcoming projects.

Speaking to H-Metro, KDee said he hopes to become an established artiste by the end of the year, and be recognised at national and international level.

He said he also hopes to establish his own music band, with its own equipment and studio.

"I want to become an icon to other upcoming artistes; to be someone they look up to.

"It's my wish to become a mentor to some of them, and to support them musically and if possible, financially.

"My background inspires me a lot. Coming from a family of eight, with our mother having to raise most of us single-handedly, it always reminds me to stay focused," he said.

KDee said challenges keep on presenting themselves one after the other.

Lack of finances and recognition in the music industry has been his biggest challenge.

"For one to make good music and market it well enough, he/she has to put in good money, so sometimes lack of funding tends to hold me back as an artiste. Thank God for Proof Lalo, my producer, who has been so considerate and supportive as far as music recording is concerned.

"Another challenge comes with very little to no chances to get the very much needed exposure in the music industry.

“It's not easy to be hired for shows or any other public marketing platforms like radio stations and television without proper management and music promotion," he added.

KDee began is music journey in 2017.

He is a certified Biotechnologist from the Chinhoyi University of Technology.
