Chitembwe impressed with pre-season

- Blessing Malinganiza

CAPS United coach, Lloyd Chitembwe, is impressed by his players’ response during pre-season training and feels they will be a force in the new Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season set to start next month.

Makepekepe have bolstered their squad with new experienced signings such as former Highlanders midfielder, Adrian Silla, ex-Dynamos defender Godknows Murwira and former FC Platinum and Bulawayo Chiefs midfielder,

Kelvin Madzongwe.

“I’m happy with our pre-season preparations. I think the attendance and the mood in camp is quite impressive.

“The coming in of new players has given us a boost. We are currently working on several aspects of football and I’m quite happy with the players’ response.

“It’s different from the way we started last season and that on its own is a big statement. We are very happy with the new players that have joined us. This time around unlike the previous pre-season, we have looked at areas that needed improvement with a bias towards our defence,” he said.

“I think last season, defensively we were very poor, but this time around we identified the right kind of players we needed for those positions.

“Stability of the team is key to success because when there is stability in the team, you stand a good chance of achieving your goals, so it’s a plus on our side.

“I’m very happy with the efforts the directors of the club have put in. It’s now left to us to put in a good shift. It’s a good thing happening at CAPS United because we haven’t had a good start and stability in the team the last time around,” Chitembwe said.
