KANINDO STAR TO RELEASE SECOND ALBUM

SELF-PROCLAIMED queen of Kanindo, Shantel Sithole, is upbeat she will win the hearts of many in East and Central Africa.

Shantel, who sings gospel on a Kanindo beat, will unveil her second album titled, Hard Talk, on June 22 at Rainbow Towers.

Her album is laden with 10 danceable tracks — Kadhanzi Kesvoto, featuring Mai TT, Sei Siki, Ndimi Baba, Mukunda weZion featuring Zhakata, Wewe Nibwana (ft) Dorcas Moyo, Mukuru (ft) her producer Gibson Makumbe, Taseta Bhomba (ft) Chipo and Terry, Jakachu (ft) Andy Muridzo and the title track Hard Talk, which she collaborat­ed with Mudimba.

Speaking to H-Metro through her producer and manager, Makumbe, Shantel’s camp said it was all systems go.

“We do anticipate a big night of song and dance on June 22 when one of our products, Shantel, will be unveiling her new album.

“Most of the artists who featured on the album will attend this event, which is set to culminate into a huge celebratio­n judging by the enquiries that we have received from top artists.

“The level of unity shown by the artists is really amazing and we hope to continue working together as one,” he said.

Makumbe told H-Metro that Shantel is also evolving after she ventured into gospel kanindo. “When she approached me with her concept paper, I was surprised how she was madly in love with Kanindo, which originated from East and Central Africa.

“After listening to her voice, I knew that we had signed a gem at our studios and everything went according to plan and we managed to record her first album titled New Dawn. “She went on to record a series of singles with other top artists and the response is overwhelmi­ng, to say the least,” he said.

Shantel, who was orphaned at a tender age, told H-Metro that she was using music as a painkiller.

“I sing about my life, especially the challenges I faced when I was still growing up.

“It is by God’s grace that I am still alive singing and praising Him.

“I found comfort in music and each time that I record a song, I feel relieved a bit and I have also realised that it is a calling, indeed,” she said.

Shantel hailed her producer who facilitate­d a number of collaborat­ions with top artists. “Mr Makumbe is a top producer who has been there for me from day one.”
