Maya drops new singles

SOUTH Africa-based gospel musician Volt ‘Minister’ Maya ( pictured) is set to release four singles — Pane Izwi, My God, Calling on the Angels and Ramangwana Riri Mumaoko Enyu — this week which he had kept on hold due to the lockdown measures in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Maya told NewsDay Life & Style that he eventually succumbed to pressure from his fans who were calling upon him to release the singles, one of which — Pane Izwi – features Zimpraise’s Eli Mambo. The release had been further delayed after he was engaged by the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) students to do an anti-drug abuse song Ramangwana Riri Mumaoko Enyu.

“I looked forward to launching the songs on Easter but the plan was derailed by the lockdown. All the arrangements we had made became futile. In response to pressure from fans, we the decided to release two weeks ago but as we were about to I was engaged by UZ to do an anti-drug abuse song, so we will release all the tracks this Friday. We thank God that the lockdown here and back home is no longer that stringent. People have the opportunity to access the new music,” he said.

“We wanted to do a live launch of the singles, but due to some restrictions which are still in place, the music will be available on Spotify, Sound Cloud and YouTube. You can also get it if you go to Facebook page Minister Maya and send a request via inbox.”

Maya, who is set to do a live DVD recording in September in Johannesburg, said his new songs restore people’s hope in these trying times.

“The overall aim of the songs is to give people hope that there is God. People are suffering, the world is in tears because of the COVID-19 pandemic. God is going to intervene but we need to repent. He is bigger than all our problems,” he said.
