Enzo defends Teemak deal

ZIMDANCEHALL chanter Enzo Ishall (pictured) has defended his decision to sign with promoter Teemak after a section of fans claimed the move was stifling his growth as a musician.

The Kanjiva hitmaker told NewsDay Life & Style his paymaster was a prudent businessman whose intention was to help him grow his brand.

“Many of those on social media seek to gain attention by spreading lies about people who are famous,” he said.

“Teemak is a genius and everyone who knows him can confirm that he is a businessperson with a business mind. I did not choose to work with him because of his money, but we are business associates in a deal because I know he has a vision for greater things.”

Enzo Ishall said he appreciated how the association with Teemak has added value to his brand.

“People can’t say I made a wrong move signing under Teemak because he knows how to add value to my brand,” he said.

The musician said although he had been affected by the lockdown imposed by government to curb the potential spread of coronavirus, his decision to open a chemical manufacturing business had helped him as a fall-back plan.

“My job pays when I sing for people during live shows, so now I can’t do that because of the restrictions and we are now using the money we had saved to do other projects like building houses or other things and we are now using it to sustain our lives,” he said.

“I managed to open a chemical company just before the lockdown and we are manufacturing and supplying detergents and we are looking forward to expanding to other products such as floor polish and battery acids.” Enzo Ishall said he would use part of the proceeds from the business to fund the production of his music videos. He said he was currently working on a number of singles and intended to keep the bar high by producing songs that touched people’s emotions. He added that despite going separate ways with his former financier Passion Java who later allegedly dissed him through a video that circulated widely on social media, they had since built bridges. “There is no bad blood between me and Passion Java and Passion is in the industry to promote us. Although at times you might think he is dissing, in actual fact he will be promoting my projects. But as for others who want to pull me down, I don’t care about that,” he said.
