IN response to COVID-19 cases surge to 132, GWIZHIKITI says: The Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights has always been right, expressing its fears of a spike in the cases. The government has never been prepared for this pandemic. Instead, it has been busy signing payments for imported personal protective equipment and other gadgets at inflated prices. The bureaucrats and their proxies are the biggest beneficiaries of this pandemic. Surely where on earth does an N95 face mask cost US$28? President Emmerson Mnangagwa must be ashamed of himself. Now that cases have shot to 132 and many more are on their way, what is his plan of action with regards inmates who are fleeing from quarantine centres? If social welfare shock absorbers were in place, we would not face that challenge of fleeing inmates. The whole lot in government must go, they are a useless bunch.

MAZVANYA says: My biggest fear is not about people who were already in the country when the pandemic started, but about returnees who are being quarantined, and then some of them fleeing the centres. Our biggest test is right ahead of us. We are staring a calamity in the face. Surely, how can people who are under observation flee from such centres? It’s just about 10 days in quarantine and then they leave for home. But some of the returnees are choosing to put the whole country’s population under threat. What a shame!

IN response to 3 000 more returnees next week: Muchinguri, MBUDAYA says: So has Defence minister Oppah Muchinguri finally seen the light that coronavirus is a threat to the world and not a curse or punishment by God for the West for imposing sanctions on Zimbabwe? She owes us an apology. If she wants to apologise to the West, it’s her call, but she must first do that to us. I hope she has learnt that pandemics are not a Zanu PF rally, where one can lie to whoever cares to listen.

IN response to Zanu PF in dilemma over Mutodi, MBUDAYA says: What dilemma? Zanu PF never runs short of clowns. There are many Energy Mutodis in that party. We should never be bothered by loonies. Zanu PF has enough rabble-rousers, all of whom are holding this country to ransom. The 2023 elections are fast approaching, and the ruling party stands no chance in retaining power. The economy, inflation, dead healthcare system and a dysfunctional community is denting Zanu PF’s chances of retaining power.
