BULAWAYO gospel artistes have embarked on a music project titled Bulawayo United (Sibambene), aimed at giving hope to those who have drawn away from God during the coronavirus (COVID-19) period.

Spearheaded by Nigel Tatenda Nyamweda (pictured), founder of One Spirit, the project will feature Nceku, Mai Mwamuka, Lorraine Maplanka Stot, Snowy, Chelsea Mguni, Faith Mucha, among others and Vocal Ex and One Spirit as backing vocals.

“As Bulawayo artistes, we got to realise that in this time of difficulty, we have a mandate to give people hope through our music. So I have managed to round up the city’s most prominent gospel musicians so that we unite and do a collabo on giving people hope in a difficult time like this,” he said. “We realised that after weeks of not going to church, some people have drawn back in terms of their faith.

“So as Bulawayo gospel artistes, we have united to preach hope through song and we hope to touch thousands of homes and Zimbabwe as a whole through this project.”

Nyamweda said the collaboration album will contain melodies of hope and encouragement to those who have lost hope.

“Bulawayo has so many big artistes, so I want to also give them a chance to sing what’s on their hearts,” he said, adding that the project was co-ordinated by a local vocal training school.

“We will release a single, then after a short while we release the video too. So you are guaranteed visuals on this project. The project will help boost the music careers of artistes in Bulawayo as well.”
