LYON — French giants Olympique Lyon yesterday officially unveiled Zimbabwe striker Tino Kadewere in a €12 million transfer from Le Harve.

The Ligue 1 club, who failed in their attempts to restart the cancelled Ligue 1 season on Tuesday, have moved on from their disappointment by unveiling the highly-rated Warriors striker.

The 24-year-old, who was on the books of Harare City in 2015 has enjoyed a meteoric rise in Europe which prompted Les Gones to sign him January, before allowing him to finish the Ligue 2 season on loan.

After scoring 20 goals in 24 games before the cancellation of the season, Kadwere arrives as a major addition for Rudi Garcia's squad.

Speaking at his unveiling, the forward, who Is served as an understudy to Knowledge Musona and Nyasha Mushekwi in recent years, opened up on the qualities he will bring to the seventime league champions.

“I like having the ball at my feet. I think I am pretty quick with it. I like being useful for the team and helping my teammates,” Kadewere said.

“I am right-footed, but I have scored more with my left. Everyone has a stronger side, but I think footballers should be able to play with both feet.”

He added: “I am very happy to join Lyon. It is a very big club, a club I dreamed of. I worked a lot to be able to sit in this place.

“I would like to thank the president, Juninho and Bruno Cheyrou who all facilitated my arrival. The players were very nice to me and integrated me directly into the group.”

The 2018 Cosafa Cup winner will now look forward to developing further in the French topflight after stints in the secondtier and the Swedish Allsvenskan with Djugardens. — KickOff
