Bhebhe will be drowned by greedy colleagues

READING through Abednigo Bhebhe’s contributions to the standing committee of the MDC faction led by Thokozani Khupe, I was so full of admiration of his desire for unity of purpose to dislodge the clueless Zanu PF that has caused so much suffering to the masses.

There is no substitute for unity, but the comrades around Bhebhe think otherwise.

But tell me really Bhebhe, how did the rest of your faction’s standing committee react to your principled position when you presented? Judging by the recalls that took place after your presentation and those that we read are being planned now targeting urban councils, your colleagues never listened to you. If I were you, I would abandon Khupe’s faction, but the choice is really yours.

But perhaps you may need to hang around and not give up, and remind them of the truth that the standing committee meeting was not representative of the real MDC-T of 2014. You should remind them that what they are doing as a faction does not conform to the Supreme Court judgment and is ruining any chances of unity.

The court ruling only ordered Khupe to act as president and for a period of 90 days and work with the appropriate structures and organise an extraordinary congress.

We are on day 86 after the Supreme Court ruling and Khupe has failed to implement what was directed by the court.

The only way she can satisfy the Supreme Court ruling is by involving everyone at every stage, that is the members of the standing committee and all the national council members as at February 14, 2018 when the late leader Morgan Tsvangirai passed on.

Anything short of that is unacceptable. The likes of Khupe, Douglas Mwonzora, Tapiwa Mashakada and Morgen Komichi can keep their faction’s standing committee in place for life after their failure to implement their Supreme Court ruling. Equally, they should let the MDC Alliance maintain its own formation.
