Van Choga breaks glass ceiling
TRENDING musician Van Choga, who has always desired to break onto the international music scene, is on cloud nine after his breakthrough, courtesy of a collaboration with Ghanaian artiste Ayo Poyoo.
Van Choga told NewsDay Life & Style that the breakthrough came as a surprise, adding that God had a hand in it.
“It has always been my dream to go international and I want to reach that point where even someone in China can enjoy my music", he said.
“The breakthrough came as a surprise to me and I can only attribute this to God who made this possible. I would like to thank
Pride Kawara although he is not my manager, he is an admirer of my work and he is the one who engaged Ayo Poyoo’s management in Ghana.”
Van Choga said the fact that their music was unique gave the collaboration an edge over other producctions.
“We knew our collaboration would make an impact and hence we gave it a try and now people are loving it,” he said.
Born Valentine Choga, Van Choga said he believed his scintillating performance would captivate his fans as the messages soothe their souls.
“I studied what people love and I saw that they wanted entertainment and action so I decided to fuse the energy and my message and I see now people are loving it. I sing mainly about things that have an impact on people's lives. I started my career in 2010, hoping to do more international collabos,” he said.
“So about my performance, yes our bodies need entertainment and our souls and minds need messages. So as someone will be trying to enjoy my performance, he or she will be listening to my lyrics, and that's my mission to entertain and educate.”
Just few days after being blamed for parting ways with Seh Calaz, a subject he is not keen to discuss, the musician has not only managed to do an international collaboration, but his latest duet with Poyoo, who is popularly known as the GOAT — Ghetto Rules — has become an instant hit. Although the song has no video yet, it has garnered over 110 000 views on YouTube since its release on Tuesday and has managed to attract an overwhelming response.
