Hadebe's future in Turkey uncertain

- BY FORTUNE MBELE

TEENAGE Hadebe’s future with Yeni Malatyaspor is in doubt after the side were relegated from the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday. It appears though that the Warriors defender was willing to see off his contract which has two years remaining.

His manager Gibson Mahachi yesterday told NewsDay Sport that the team would have to make a decision whether to offload the 24-yearold or to go down with him to Division One next season.

“We will have to wait to hear from Malatyaspor. He (Hadebe) has a running contract with them,” Mahachi said. “It will depend on what they want to do because if they are still willing to honour the contract, there is no problem. But if they fail to honour the contract, then there might be a challenge.”

He added: “But then, it is too early to talk about it because the team just got relegated. He is still a Malatyaspor player because he has a contract. He still has two more years to play.”

Hadebe joined the club last season from Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa.

However, his stay at the club is in jeopardy after they were demoted to the second-tier on Saturday following a 1-0 loss to Gaziantep.

With all their relegation rivals losing their respective matches, Yeni Malatyaspor needed just a win at home to survive.

They conceded the goal that condemned them to relegation just after the hour mark. They had over 30 minutes to correct the situation, but failed and bade farewell to the top flight league just after one season.

The team, founded in 1986, were promoted to the top division for the first time in their history last season.
