COVID-19: Kadewere granted special dispensation
... to attend brother’s burial in Murombedzi
WARRIORS star Tino Kadewere has been given a special dispensation to attend the burial of his brother Prince who died in Harare on Wednesday.
Prince, who died after a short illness, will be buried at the family’s rural home in Murombedzi today.
The France-based Tino jetted into the country on Wednesday for the funeral and went into quarantine in accordance with the government health guidelines.
He is accompanied by his wife and two children.
However, they were fears that the striker would miss the burial as he was set to be quarantined for the mandatory 14 days which is subjected to all returning citizens.
But the superstar was released from quarantine yesterday evening after COVID-19 tests were carried on the delegation and the 24-year-old will be part of the delegation that will make the 110km trip west of Harare for the burial.
“He has been released from quarantine and we thank the authorities for that. It means a lot to us as a family,” Tino’s brother Prosper said.
“PCR tests were done and they came out fine, hence they were given the greenlight,” added Prosper.
Coach Pipi, as Prince was popularly known, died at a medical facility at the age of 40.
Prince is survived by a wife and four children.
At the time of his death, he was coaching Division Two side Highfield Youth Academy, a club that was founded by his late father Onias.
The academy was revived this year following the intervention of Tino who is now bankrolling it.
Tino, the youngest of the four, plays for Lyon in the French Ligue 1.
