Zanu PF crisis costing Zim

-

THERE is no doubt that Zanu PF is walking a tight rope. All they are touching and trying to do is hitting brick walls. Corruption has reached alarming levels. But its failing diplomacy is the final nail in the ruling party’s political coffin.

All political parties in South Africa are unanimously condemning the new dispensation’s handling of human rights issues in Zimbabwe.

At home, the Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops’ Conference, Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabweans has and other church groupings have also issued scathing attacks on the deteriorating political situation in Zimbabwe, leaving President Emmerson Mnangagwa with an egg on the face.

Apart from South Africa, Malawi is unapologetically critical of how Zanu PF is leading the country down the cliff. Across the western border of our country, former Botswana President Ian Khama is calling on Mnangagwa to reform.

Cornered Zanu PF is losing regional support. Regional super power, South Africa, is losing patience as it has become home to millions of Zimbabweans running away from poverty and political instability at home. This is straining South Africa’s social welfare resources amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Yet Zanu PF’s failure to reform and transform itself into an organised entity which can effectively and efficiently run the country for the benefit of all is its biggest enemy. This has been playing out for many years.

The government is failing to serve the people, but is worried about power retention within a party which has ructions and fissures which cannot be papered.

Within the last few days and months, Mnangagwa has fired two ministers and a deputy minister — a sign that, indeed, it’s not only Zimbabwe in a crisis, but the Zanu PF crisis is now a national crisis.

The opposition, especially the MDC Alliance which has been attacked ceaselessly by the clueless Zanu PF government, is neither a “terrorist” organisation nor against the people.

The way they have been subjugated and persecuted are enough proof that they are the people’s hope and future.

As Zanu PF is consumed by its failures, it is clear that they have failed diplomatically and they cannot take on the world without inviting dire consequences to their existence.

Zanu PF cannot be right when the whole Sadc region is saying they are now a danger to the people of Zimbabwe which they are meant to serve and save.

No distractions can make people forget the destruction which they have done to the country.

As of now Zanu PF remains in a crisis exposed by its clueless leadership.
