Central Region seeks good governance
THE Zifa Central Region Soccer league leadership has taken the time of inactivity to establish robust structures to foster good governance in the region. The region is seeking to attract sponsorship through improving its structures, having of late failed to be the ideal destination for sponsors.
They last attained a sponsorship package in 2018 from Zimbabwe General Medical Aid, although the sponsor did not meet their end of the bargain, despite enjoying benefits for selling their medical aid to teams in the region.
And they have set up sub-committees in the four of its departments, marketing, finance, technical development and competitions, which will be led by board members Pithias Shoko, Thomas Marambanyika, Arnold Ndlovhu and Tafadzwa Samushonga.
Region chairman Stanley Chapeta said they resolved to set up robust structures by roping in experts in the four departments.
“Our goal has been to improve our league for some time now, so we took this long time of inactivity to set structures that enhance our league, departments so that we can be able to attract sponsorship,” he said.
“We made a number of resolutions, and we believe setting up robust structures is the first step towards our goals. It’s a long journey, but we need to do it step by step.
“We resolved that for our department (to improve, we should take) people with different expertise from within our league so that we can improve our league, to emulate what we are seeing in other leagues, but it needs combined efforts hence these appointments.
“As the chairman, I will oversee everything, the processes, but I admit this will need to be supported by our mother body.”
