Africa must silence guns
WHAT is currently taking place in Nigeria is unacceptable. This also happened in our country where seven innocent civilians were gunned down by the army last year during protests.
I am of the view that a new African continent is desperate to be born. Young people are not afraid of the oppressive authorities who are ruling nations with an iron fist.
Dictactors should be careful not to continue with their ruthless old ways. The young people will lead the continent to a new order.
Those who want to stand in their way may find it very difficult to contain them.
The shooting at Lekki tollgate in Lagos, Nigeria, where security forces opened fire on unarmed peaceful protestors resulting in 12 deaths was so barbaric and inhuman. Those who ordered the army to open fire must be held accountable.
This is a crime against humanity and those who ordered the attack need to be brought to justice. This level of brutality should be condemned in the strongest terms.
Nigeria is on fire while the African Union is quiet in the midst of a growing crisis. What is Economic Community of West African States doing? Sometimes I wonder why these organisations came into existence in the first place. If they can’t intervene in such circumstance when will be the appropriate time?
It’s high time the youth freed themselves from the so-called liberators.
Is this the kind of continent which we want to live in? What kind of inspiration can the next generation derive from such a ruthless government which orders the security forces to spray live bullets on peaceful demonstrators.
The youths must redefine the role of the international community in protecting innocent citizens from oppressive governments which are brutalising the civilians they preside over.
What did Africa do to deserve this type of leadership? African governments should be made aware that there is a new relentless generation which is not afraid to fight for equality and good governance.
